Upcoming Event: Exploring Photoshop with Sherry London

Sherry will follow up her September smart objects/pattern preview theme with using Pattern Preview for half drop repeats on Monday October 24th at 11am EST, you can download recommended files here that go along with this presentation. These talks have been so informative for using Photoshop to create repeats from hand drawn motifs.  Sherry’s September topic was information on smart objects and an intro to the pattern preview mode. You can watch the recording here. In Sherry’s August covered “From scanned image to Pattern Motifs”—How to prep non-destructively so you can repurpose motifs easily.  This tutorial is a great refresher for using layer masks and smart objects on artwork you are editing. Find the recording with this link.  If you have questions you can ask them in the tech talk forum and tag @prancingpixel

Have a topic that you would like discussed in an upcoming presentation? Please tag @prancingpixel on the Tech Talk forum to let her know.

Upcoming Event: Illustrator Live with Laura Coyle

For this month’s Illustrator Live on October 25th at 11am EST Laura will return to showing us tips on work flows between Adobe Fresco and Illustrator on the iPad.  Some technical problems with her iPad occurred during the previous presentation in September that prevented her from finishing, so we will discuss this topic again this month. On August 23rd Laura showed us how to properly insert documents from Illustrator to Photoshop and she went over a quick demo on preventing file and setting loss when Illustrator crashes. You can watch the demo here and download her PDF for Illustrator file recovery here.  If you have suggestions/questions for future sessions, please add them to this thread.  You can ask her questions by tagging @laurac

Opportunity: Designer Feature on the Pattern Observer blog!

We love to feature our TDL members on the Pattern Observer blog and our social media accounts. If you are interested in a feature, please fill out every answer on this form. If your submission is accepted we will reach out to you with a publishing date.  We are also interested in sharing videos on social media, since they are all the rage these days…so if you want to create a short video for social media of your artwork/portfolio, an animation of your art, or working in your studio, that would be great as well, but not necessary for a feature. A good length is around 6-60 seconds. You can easily make something on your phone these days or in Adobe Express.

Upcoming Course: Trend Board Exploration

For two weeks in November (the 7th-18th) the TDL will show you everything you need to know to use WGSN to research trends and incorporate them skillfully into your personal style and brand. Then we will send out lessons on how to create mood boards that organize your thoughts and keep your portfolio and collections cohesive. You can sign up here.
