Live Event: Illustrator Live with Laura Coyle
January’s Illustrator Live with Laura Coyle is all about working between Fresco and Adobe Illustrator. Laura will take some artwork from Fresco and import it into Illustrator, clean up the excess anchor points and look at other ways of making the workflow between these 2 apps more efficient.
Do you have any special questions that Laura can answer for you? Ask her here.
The presentation date is Tuesday, 1/26/21 at 11 am Eastern. A link will be sent out in the morning, but you can also find it here.

Recording Posted: Indexing in Photoshop with Sherry London
We had another fabulous presentation with Sherry London on how the index tool works and how we can begin using this powerful tool. Sherry will continue this presentation on February 15 at 11am Eastern.
In last month’s presentation Sherry showed us how we can use Photoshop’s new Pattern Preview tool to create half-drop repeats. The recording can be found here.
Recording Posted: Lesser Known Pattern Layouts
In this presentation you’ll discover five lesser known pattern layout styles that you can begin using in your pattern development work. Step-by-step instructions are included for developing both scenic and free-flowing layouts.
Members can watch the recording here.
Design Heroes: Yayoi Kusama
We are delighted to kick off a new monthly post series for 2021, created by Lab member Stephanie Chauvel (@stephanie-chauvel here in the Lab, @sc_patterndesign on Instagram.) Inspired by Lesson One of The Sellable Sketch where students are asked to identify and “walk in the shoes” of their favorite design hero, Stephanie brought to us the brilliant idea to focus on a different design hero each month as a group here in the Lab.
Textile Prints with Fizah Malik: Non Prints
We are thrilled to announce that we just released a new tutorial in the Lab by the fabulous Fizah Malik!
This is the third in a series of tutorials that she has created for the Lab that will be released over the next few months. In this tutorial Fizah shares her technique for creating non prints.
New: TDL Community Connect
Our TDL Video Chat room will now be open all day, everyday. Feel free to stop by while you are working on a project or to simply chat with your fellow members!
In the future we might need to have specific meeting times, but I wanted to open this opportunity up to people across various time zones and with different schedules.
Weekly Art Critiques. Please join the TDL community on THURSDAY at 1 PM Eastern for a live art critique. Our art critiques are fun events where Lab members come together to review artwork and ask questions about pattern design, marketing and sales. A registration link will be emailed the morning of the critique and will also be posted in our Weekly Art Critique forum. Textile Design Lab members can watch past critiques here.
